Adoption Sunday

Each week our gatherings are hosted by one of our Little Churches. For Adoption Sunday King’s Little Church were hosting amongst whom there are three families who have been involved in fostering and adoption.

Currently there are over 72,000 children in the care system in the UK. Organisations like Home for Good have been encouraging churches to play their part in reducing that number. For those of us involved, it isn’t just something we do to fulfil a need in our lives but an opportunity to obey one part of the biblical mandate to ‘look after orphans and widows in their distress’ (James 1:27).

One couple from King’s joined me on stage during the gathering to share a bit of their story.

It was really encouraging hearing how God has worked in their lives as a new family. There were tears as people listened to and watched their friends speaking of the relentless love of God with which they now love their children, despite how they themselves or the children might be feeling.

As a Little Church, we’re under no illusions about how difficult fostering and adoption can be but we are wholehearted advocates for it and for encouraging others to join us in this journey.

Will you join in?
