"What Alpha offers, and what is attracting thousands of people, is permission, rare in secular culture, to discuss the big questions - life and death and their meaning." Madeleine Bunting, The Guardian

"What distinguishes Alpha from other initiatives is the easy-going, relaxed feel of the proceedings - that, and its astonishing success." Damian Thompson, The Times

What is Alpha?

Alpha is a series of interactive sessions exploring the Christian faith, typically run over eleven weeks. Each talk looks at a different areas of our faith and is designed to create conversation.

Who is it for?

We believe that everyone should have the chance to explore the Christian faith, ask questions and share their point of view; it’s for the cynics, the sceptics and the open minded.  Alpha is run all around the globe, and everyone’s welcome. It runs in cafés, churches, universities, prison, homes, bars where millions and millions of people have loved taking part.

Why attend?

Alpha is a relaxed and low pressure environment which encourages openness and honesty.

What will it cost?

The course is absolutely free.  Only if you'd like to, you can make a small voluntary contribution towards breakfast or dinner on the day.

How does it work? What’s the format?

Our Alpha Courses are run by and through our Communities (Little Churches) and generally each week has three key things in common: food, a talk and good conversation:

Food: sharing a meal together is a great way to get to know one another, build friendships and catch up on how life has been

Talk: Alpha talks are designed to engage and inspire conversation. They explore the big issues around faith and unpack the basics of Christianity

Chat: An opportunity to share our thoughts, ask any questions & think together in an honest, open & friendly environment
