We're in a series called Home With Jesus, looking at encounters with Jesus in the Gospels. This week Charles looks at encounter between Jesus and Nicodemus found in Mark chapter 3 and what it means to be born again.
MTV? - Established Church in Post-Christendom
Following the Bishops' announcement this week proposing that the Church of England offer prayers of blessing to same-sex couples, a proposal that will be debated at General Synod next month, James and Wayne discuss some of the issues behind the issue: how can we have an established church in post-Christian culture? And what happens when a faith-group that is increasingly marginalised still has a significant role in public life?
This is the first in a short series we'll be recording about sexuality and same-sex marriage.
Sunday's Talk -The Kingdom of God - Tim Dobson
This Sunday we welcomed guest speaker Tim Dobson from Woodies Church Bristol.
MTV? - When It Gets Personal
Happy new year and welcome back to More Tea Vicar! In our first episode of 2023 we discuss the the recently aired interviews with Prince Harry, his desire to call out the injustice of the behaviour of the British press and how we can be people who prophetically speak out against injustice without it becoming personal.
MTV? - Integrity Matters
In our last episode of 2022 we look back over the last few months and in particular at a subject that kept coming up again and again in the news: Integrity. The culture around us is looking for integrity in its leadership and we talked about why Jesus is the only one who can meet that longing.
MTV? - Ethics: the rules of the game
This week we were inspired by Heidi Crowter, who brought her case against abortion laws to the Court of Appeal. We talked about ethics and how we can have conversations about things that really matter in a culture that lacks an ethical framework.
Sunday's Talk - Home: In the Waiting - Wayne Massey
One of the big lessons we can learn from the exile that feels particularly relevant for post-pandemic life is how to wait. This week Wayne looks at the Psalms of Ascent, in particular Psalm 123, and what they can teach us about waiting: active waiting, waiting together and waiting with Jesus.
MTV? - Protest
This week the Iranian football team did not sing their national anthem and Virgil Van Dijk and Harry Kane did not wear OneLove arm bands at the World Cup. We talk about what it mean for us to protest and make sacrifices for what we believe in.
Sunday's Talk - Home: Justice - Charles Auld
This Sunday, guest speaker Charles Auld spoke from Lamentations 3 about how and why we need to talk about the justice of God.
MTV? - Alpha Questions 2022
Wayne and James answer some brilliant questions from some of our current Alpha course guests. Why is Jesus always portrayed as a white man? Why is following Jesus so hard? What about dinosaurs? Loads to get you thinking on this week's MTV.
Sunday's Talk - Home: Prophecy - James Stevenson
This Sunday we continued in our series on HOME, looking at Prophecy: speaking out how God sees the present and the future. James looks at prophecy in both the Church today and the Bible and how we can read the prophets in the Old Testament.
MTV? - The Divided Heart
James is back this week and we've been inspired by Gary Neville's appearance as guest host on Have I Got News For You. Well, inspired is perhaps the wrong word, but the way Ian Hislop called Neville out for his planned attendance at the upcoming World Cup in Qatar has thrown up questions around words, actions, righteousness and integrity. We look at the story of Naaman from 2 Kings and how we can live with integrity within the mess of culture this side of eternity.
MTV? - COP or NOT
In this Episode of MTV we answer this week's big question: Who is and who isn't going to the COP27 Climate Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh next week? King Charles isn't, the new President of Brazil is, Rishi Sunak (at time of recording) is a maybe... We thought it would be a good opportunity to talk about the bigger question behind that - why we as followers of Jesus should care about climate change and how we can play our part in stewarding our wonderful planet.
Sunday's Talk - The Armour of God - Wayne & Wendy Massey
This half term as many people in our city celebrated Halloween, we gathered to celebrate Jesus, the light of the world, the one who has overcome the darkness. In this 2-part recording Wendy & Wayne unpack the armour of God, how we can get a hold of it and be people of the light.

MTV? - Truth and Lies
This week we're talking about the protests happening in Iran as women across the country bravely stand up to religious fundamentalism for their rights and civil liberties. James & Wayne discuss the idea that regimes of fear and control use lies to further their agenda and that every culture outside of that of the Kingdom of God will tell lies in order to establish itself at the expense of the truth about Jesus.
Sunday's Talk - What We Worship - Wayne Massey
What do you worship in life? We're in a series called Home, looking at the exile and seeking to understand where we are in an uncertain world. This Sunday's talk looks at Psalm 115, how the people in exile overcame the temptation to worship idols, and why worship is the key for us in re-ordering our priorities as followers of Jesus.
The Real U-Turn
This week we’re discussing the news following Kwasi Kwarteng’s “U-turn” over plans to scrap the 45p tax cut for high earners. Why do we hate it so much when leaders attempt to gloss over a U-turn? And how can we learn to U-turn well in our own lives?
