Baptisms

Over recent months, we have been celebrating new faith at B&A. We’ve seen people coming along to church for the first time, exploring faith through Alpha, encountering Jesus and becoming Christians. As a result we held a series of baptism services which were a massive encouragement to the whole church family and a powerful reminder that God is at work among us and in us.

Baptism is always a special moment at B&A. Our building was originally a baptist church with an amazing baptism tank, that means everytime we fill it we are playing our part in the ongoing story of the people who originally planted and built the church.

Baptism is also more than just an individual step of obedience, it is a whole-church celebration. As we gather to celebrate with those being baptised, we are reminded again of the joy of when we each came to faith. Every individual  baptism tells a story of God’s grace and faithfulness—and tells the story of the family of church as well.

We were especially blessed to hear the stories of those who were baptised, here is few from people baptised recently:

My walk in faith started at curiosity. What began as baptism research led to B&A. What started as reading the Bible for insight turned into an overwhelming love. Through this I found not just a wonderful community, but guidance I didn't know I needed. For as long as I can remember, I've been searching for an unconditional love I wasn't sure even existed. But that changed once I opened my heart to Christ. Before him, I was endlessly chasing identity and purpose. And in him, I have found both. I'm standing here today because Christ gave me my life and I'm choosing now to give it back to him.

I started coming to BNA nine weeks ago, not really understanding what it was that led me here, other than feeling a strong pull and knowing it was the right time. What I didn't know at the time was 3 weeks later, I'd enter into one of the most stressful and darkest situations I've ever been through in my life. Throughout all of this, God has been the light in all of the darkness. And the reason I'm able to show up every day and continue to be the person I am. I've been filled with the hope of knowing that with Jesus by my side, I can get through anything. And what I know now is that I was called to church that one Sunday so Jesus could prepare me for what what lies ahead. I'm getting baptised today to fully give my life to him.

So for most of my life I felt lonely and very anxious. Um but earlier this year uh during traveling in South America I decided to drink some poison. This poison made me throw up. And after I threw up, I saw the face of Jesus. And after I saw that, I gained the ability to forgive. Not just other people. I gained the ability to forgive myself as well because nobody's perfect. And since then I've felt this great connection and I'd like to deepen that going forwards. Amen.

Alongside this, as part of helping people come to faith and grow in faith, we’re growing our team of people who read the Bible one-to-one with others. Reading the Bible is a wonderful way to discover Jesus and grow as his disciple—and doing it with someone else is a brilliant opportunity to serve, encourage, and be encouraged. As we open God’s word together, He speaks not only to those we’re helping, but to us as well.

If you’d like to get involved—whether exploring faith, taking next steps, or helping others grow—we’d love to hear from you. This season has been a joy, and we’re excited about all that God has still to do among us.
