This week James talks about how easy it is to become stuck in life, and particularly as a Christian. From the story of Abram, we can learn about both how easy it is to become stuck and how to become unstuck.

We are shaped by our history and before. In the story of Abram we hear about those who shaped where he began and what he stepped out from. Sometimes it’s hard to keep going, taking another step on our journey with God. This passage encourages to be obedient in stepping into all God has for us.

We see the city of Babel’s attempts to reach God by their own effort, to make a name for themselves, rather than living into the identity God has bestowed on them, we ask ourselves the question, “who are we?” Where is our identity rooted and where do we need to level the towers to our own greatness?

Is the flood story simply for Sunday School and kids’ Bibles or are their truths about God in it that apply today? From Genesis 6,7 & 8 we look at the aspects of God’s judgement on Noah’s world and how it applies to our world.

This week James looks at the story of Cain and Abel and asks what difference Christ makes to our human condition and how we relate to one another.
